RYOSUKE ANDO

Ryōsuke Andō was born in 1980, an emerging ceramic artist in Aichi prefecture in Japan. His works have been awarded in many ceramic design competitions.

The production is done entirely by him: designing, making models, forming, and firing. He creates porcelain pieces with slip-casting which allows to make many and precise pieces. However, it is quite difficult to form complicated shapes. Therefore, his works cannot be finished without his hand. Moreover, porcelain deforms easily in the kiln, and glazing and applying metal on porcelain certainly requires painstaking care. Ando’s meticulous works uplift our mind and everyday life.

Cloud

Cloud series is one of Ando’s flagship pieces. His distinctive design is executed perfectly with his meticulous work. The smooth texture of porcelain expresses the softness of clouds, even the cold surface appears to have warmth.
